Toyota Highlander Driver Demolishes Garage, Cries "Unintended Acceleration", But Is It?

Given all the attention Toyota has received for the unintended acceleration issues, it's not surprising that it's one of the first things that cross the minds of drivers whenever they're involved in a strange and usually, hard to explain, accident or incident. Sometimes they are right, but sometimes they are wrong.

A female driver of a relatively new Toyota Highlander posted a video of a rather bizarre incident on YouTube a couple of months back (on January 21, to be precise), though, this is the first time we've seen it, and judging from the low viewer counter, most likely the same applies to you too.

Ukrainian Cars Do the Awkward Walking Dance and Collide Head On

You know when you're walking towards someone and you both try to change path, but end up taking the same direction and bump into each other anyway? Well, imagine the same thing, but instead of walking, driving a car – yes, it's as scary as it sounds.

Something of the sort happened to a pair of Ukrainian (or so the video author claims) drivers who tried to avoid each other on the road but their moves resulted in a head-on collision.

If you're into cars and video games, you've likely heard of the Grand Theft Auto (GTA for short) franchise where you can steal vehicles (and pay the services of prostitutes, but that’s another story…) and act like a genuine thug on the road, crashing and smashing into anything that comes your way, all in the safety of your home. This is what one man did - not in a game, though, but in real-life Hong Kong. Read more »

Firefighters Cut Car to Extinguish Fire, Turns Out Smoke Came from an Auxiliary Heating System...

There’s nothing wrong about being a vigilant citizen and alerting authorities when you think there's a problem. That’s exactly what a woman from Baia Mare, Romania, did when she saw smoke coming out of a parked car’s engine compartment.

Suspecting a fire, she called the firefighters. What she didn’t know was that the old Audi A6 had an…"auxiliary heating system running on fuel" that had been turned on by the owner via a remote control.

Volvo S60 Driver Tries to Overtake Motorcyclists on the Grass, Pays the Price…

Here's one incident where we think that both parties are to blame – the group of motorcyclists for spreading out on both lanes and blocking the road for the rest of the motorists, and the driver of the older generation Volvo S60 sedan for trying to overtake them by stepping on the grass and performing a very dangerous move, as it turned out. "Lost in Thought" Drivers Cause More Accidents than Those Using Mobile Phones, Says Study

Latest police data in the United States reveal some surprising statistics. It seems that the use of mobile phones while driving, blamed by many as one of the leading causes of traffic accidents, is not as harmful as being “lost in thought” or simply put, daydreaming.

Ten percent of fatal auto accidents in the States involved at least one motorist who was distracted, according to a statement by Erie Insurance Group that analyzed 2010 and 2011 national crash data from NHTSA’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System. The causes of the distraction in 62 percent of the cases was daydreaming and being “lost in thought”, with mobile phone use being blamed in only 12 percent of the accidents caused by distracted drivers.

Lada Saloon Slips on Ice and Takes a Turn for the Worse…

The thing with ice and even worse, black ice is that you won't notice it until it's too late to do something about it, so when temperatures drop below the freezing point of water at 32° F or 0° C, the best you can do is slow down and be extremely careful – the opposite of what the driver of this classic Lada sedan did.

Obviously travelling faster than what he should have in these conditions, the driver stepped on ice and lost control of the car that crossed over the road slamming into the metal guardrails before it tumbled and landed on its top.

Marine Corps Sgt Goes Ballistic Over a Civilian Driver with Nerves of Steel [NSFW]

A new video that surfaced on YouTube on Monday shows how a simple fender bender can reveal the road-rage-driven beast hiding inside one man, and the remarkably calm demeanor in another.

From what we understand, a civilian driver with a disabled female Marine passenger, rear-ended another car driven by a Marine Corps sergeant (Sgt) in California, near the Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton.

We don't know if something preceded the accident, but after it occurred and the Sgt exited his car, all hell broke loose. Screaming at the top of his lungs, the Sgt insulted both the driver and the passenger, while also kicking the door as he wanted the driver to come out of his car so he could "beat" his "f[explicit] ass".

Woman Tips Her Mitsubishi on Two Wheels

It seems that parked cars are really good ramps for launching other vehicles into the air. Judging by the videos we've seen, it's usually hatchbacks which offer the best lift. This new video shows how a woman in a red Mitsubishi (or so the badge suggests) hatchback gets some impressive two-wheel driving action. However, she does not topple the car over because it gently balances itself out using the trailer of a passing truck… Read more »

Blimey! Watch a British Ford Mustang Driver Plow a Few Trees

Losing control and crashing a tricked out, fifth-gen Ford Mustang all by yourself just after exiting a parking lot during a car meet, is one way to give American Muscle cars a bad name and lead to new jokes about live rear axle suspensions…

As reported by Jalopnik, it all went down on Sunday (March 31), during the Big Breakfast car meeting in Malton, England, when the driver of the cherry-red Mustang coupe came out of the parking and wanted to show off his car's V8-power to the enthusiastic crowd.
