Volvo Takes Common Rail Diesels into the Future With i-ART Tech


The common rail turbo diesel engine makes a lot of sense to a lot of people who do many miles every year, and since it has gained acceptance around the world (in most countries, anyway), it is being constantly and actively developed, because demand is very high, and rising.

In Europe, diesels are hugely popular, and all manufacturers are trying to come out with units that are more powerful as well as more economical and cleaner, so as to outdo the competition. Volvo has now announced a new technology, which takes the concept further and promises improved economy.

Digital Gauge Clusters' Popularity Rising, Watch How the One on the Volvo V60 PHEV Works

Volvo to Launch Next XC90 in 2014, will Be the First Car Developed with Geely


Volvo will introduce its first all-new vehicle developed under the ownership of China’s Zhejiang Geely Holding Group in late 2014. The announcement was made by Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson, who added that the car will be a successor for to the XC90 SUV.

The platform for the next-generation XC90 is being engineered in Sweden and will also be used by the successor to the S80 sedan. The platform is known internally as SPA, which stands for Scalable Product Architecture, as it can accommodate various power trains, including Volvo’s first production plug-in hybrid system.

Volvo Confirms V60 Sports Wagon for the U.S., Sales Start in Early 2014


At the New York International Auto Show, Volvo revealed that it will add the V60 wagon to its U.S. lineup in early 2014. The announcement was made by Doug Speck, Volvo Cars’ senior vice president marketing, who added that pricing and specifications will be announced at a later date. Read more »

Volvo Introduces R-Design Packages for the S60, V60 and XC60, Polestar Option Brings 329 HP


Volvo has released the new S60, V60 and XC60 R-Design models, which feature a more dynamic styling package, 15-mm lower chassis, 15 percent stiffer springs, sport seats and optional 19-inch wheels (for S60/V60) or 20-inch wheels (for the XC60), among other goods.

Based on the facelifted S60, V60 and XC60, all three R-Design cars now feature a unique face with a redesigned, frameless Tech Matte Black grille fitted with high-gloss black stripes, a silk metal diagonal and an R-Design emblem. DRL lights placed in the lower corners of the bumper contribute to the cars’ dynamic image, as does the built-in splitter.

Spied: Volvo Rolls Out First Test Mules for All-New 2015 XC90


At last, Volvo has begun field tests of its long overdue replacement for the XC90 that will be introduced in late 2014 or (more likely) in early 2015. For starters, your eyes are not playing tricks with you as the test mule depicted in these spy shots is indeed wearing a modified body from the XC70 to hide the running gear of the XC90. Prototypes of the production body model are expected to start making their appearance over the next year. Read more »

Volvo Dealers in China Accused of Boosting Sales Figures to Win Rebates


Volvo seemed rather pessimistic when it announced that it sold 11 percent fewer cars in China in 2012, than they did in 2011. As it turns out, however, that's not true, as it has just been discovered that over half of all Volvo dealers in the country falsified their sales figures in order to get extra incentives from the manufacturer for achieving a certain target.
